My Baptism Book ©A Gift To Cherish

On January 16, 2008, Anna Sanders, you were born into this world.  What a blessed day that was!  We were thrilled as we held you in our arms for the first time.  We had been waiting months for this day to arrive.  To touch your face, your hands, your feet…what a miracle!  You are a precious gift from God and we will love you forever.

 

Anna, you were born into the family of God on April 9, 2008, the day of your Baptism.  As Father Paul Watts poured water on your head he prayed:  “Anna Michelle, I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”  With those words, Anna, you became a daughter of God…His life filled your soul.  You cannot imagine how thankful we are that God has blessed us with you!

 

After he baptized you, Father Paul Watts anointed you with oil, laid a white garment on you, and gave you your baptismal candle.  These simple signs tell us of the wonderful effects of baptism…we are a holy people, our souls are washed clean of sin, and we have the light of Christ to guide us through this world.  Anna, you have now begun your journey to Heaven.  Always remember to follow the light of Christ and you will never go wrong.

 

When the ceremony was over everyone was delighted that you had become a daughter of God.  What an awesome privilege it is to be able to call God, Our Father.  And you can do that because you have been reborn in the waters of baptism.  Look at the pictures and see how happy everyone was just because of you.  Jack and Mary were especially excited to share in this special day.

 

After your Baptism, the celebration of this Blessed Event continued at your home.  A baptism party is much like a birthday party.  A birthday party celebrates the birth of human life.  A baptism party celebrates the birth of divine life.  Sanctifying Grace filled your soul, Anna, and you became a temple of God the Holy Spirit.  What a cause for celebration.  Let the party begin!

 

Everyone was in such a festive mood.  Aunt Natalie and Uncle Tom were so proud to be your Godparents.  They will be good examples of how you are to live as a daughter of God.  And no doubt Jesus joined the party and why not?  It was He who made everything possible.  Just imagine the smile on His face as He watched over your family and friends talking, laughing, and enjoying the food.  He had to be pleased that everyone was having such a good time… all because of your Baptism.

 

It was so much fun as the gifts you received were opened.  Someday you will see these gifts and they will remind you of those who gave them to you and how much they love you.  However, the best gift you received on the day of your baptism was the gift of God’s life filling your soul.  That gift was also given to you out of love, God’s love … a love born from the greatest story ever told.

 

Anna, the memories of this day will be cherished for the rest of our lives.  And every time we read this book and looks at these pictures we will thank God for giving us such a treasured gift – you!
