God’s Special Gifts to Me
was created especially for

Thomas Edward Smith
at the age of 1 year old

Love
Mommy

Every child on God's earth
is precious in His sight.
All He asks is that we try
to do things that are right.

When God looks down from Heaven,
Tommy Smith can feel His gaze.
At 1 year old in Miami,
he is blessed in many ways.

Tommy thanks God for mornings
that turn into bright days.
These days are filled with
friends and story times,
enjoyed beneath the sun's bright rays.

He must have taken special care
when He gave Tommy Smith sight.
He can see the butterflies by day
and the shining stars by night.

Tommy's nose is a wondrous gift;
it smells all kinds of things:
fresh cut grass, hot fruit pies,

Tommy listens very quietly
while Mommy reads a book.
Where is that music coming from?
Go to the window, take a look!

Tommy loves to picnic at the beach.
He's happy he can taste
the sweetness of fresh fruit galore;
none ever goes to waste.

Tommy uses God's gift of touch
when he gives friends a hug.
With his fingers he explores
cold water, rocks, and bugs.

With friends and loved ones all around,
Tommy knows he must be kind.
In Miami, everyone agrees,
he's the best friend you can find.

The gift of thoughtfulness is grand.
Tommy uses it each day
to help when someone needs a hand.
"Thank you!" his friends all say.

God wants us to be helpful
and at 1 year old, it's true;
Tommy is the biggest help around
when there's a job to do.

Sometimes it's hard to wait
when Tommy wants something "now."
He knows he must be patient;
God will show him how.

When Tommy must
make a choice
between what's right and wrong,
God shines His light of truth
and guides Tommy right along.

God knows Tommy will make
mistakes that leave him feeling sad.
Yet God forgives us all our sins,
and this makes Tommy feel glad.

Tommy loves to talk
to God,
his prayers are always heard.
He is so thankful that God is near
to hear his every word.

Tommy's bedtime prayer:
Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Angels watch me through the night
and wake me to Thy golden light.
Oh, and God, bless Jessica, Steven and Taylor.
Amen.

In his hometown of Miami,
Tommy Smith is quite well known
for being one who is thankful for
the things no one can own.
